Kerry named 14th most affordable place in Ireland for first time buyers

Kerry is the 14th most affordable place in Ireland for First Time Buyers. 

The Kingdom beat 15 other localities in Switcher.ie’s new Affordability Index – which lists the most affordable areas for sole and joint buyers.

• Kerry is the 14th most affordable place in Ireland for both sole and joint buyers. 
• The county has some of the most reasonable house prices in the country, and it would take just a year and half for a couple to save the minimum 10% deposit, and just over three years for a single person. 
• Dún Laoghaire is the least affordable place for both sole and joint buyers
• A sole buyer in Dún Laoghaire would need almost 20 years to save a deposit – almost 17 more than a buyer in Kerry, who needs just over three years.
• Joint buyers in Dún Laoghaire would need almost 4 years to save a deposit – 2 and a half more than joint buyers in Kerry.

“The Switcher.ie affordability index can help anyone who wants to get a foothold on the property ladder. “Midland counties Leitrim and Longford were listed among the most affordable, but if you’re willing to pay a slightly more, the infamously beautiful coastal regions of Kerry and Clare boasted extremely reasonable house prices and handsome salaries.”

“As remote working takes a firm hold, these more affordable, rural locations could become increasingly popular for young families and couples buying their first home.”
