County Kerry, Ireland

If so, then these are some of the attractions that await you.

Kerry or otherwise known as the “The Kingdom,” has a long cultural and sporting history and is also
one of Ireland’s most scenic counties. You’ve probably heard of the beautiful UNESCO World
Heritage site of Skellig Michael – an uninhabited island famously used as a filming location in the
Stars Wars movie franchise – and the Ring of Kerry tour, a stunning 179 km scenic drive showcasing
mountains, lakes, beaches, and charming villages that is very popular with visitors to the county, but
there is so much more to discover, all with the Kerry warmth, humour and pride.

Killarney National Park: Ireland’s first national park, featuring Torc Waterfall, Muckross House &
Gardens, and the Lakes of Killarney. A paradise for hikers, nature lovers, anglers and families. A first
communion celebration would not be complete without a visit Muckross House and Gardens and a
drive on a jaunting car.

Gap of Dunloe: A magical glacial valley with rugged landscapes, perfect for hiking, cycling, or a
traditional jaunting car tour with an expert guide.

Ross Castle: Set on the shores of Lough Leane in Killarney this picturesque 15th-century castle has a
wonderful setting and it is also the destination for boat trips to the nearby islands.

Dingle Peninsula & Slea Head Drive: A visit to Kerry would not be complete without taking this
breath-taking coastal drive with ancient beehive huts, stunning cliffs, and the lively town of Dingle,
famous for its pubs, seafood, marina and waterpark.

Inch Beach: ‘Dear Inch, must I leave you, I have promises to keep, perhaps miles to go to my last
sleep’, famously adorns the wall of the local café. It is not known who wrote it but you will know it’s
meaning when you have walked its sandy beaches. It is a great location for surfing, walking, or just
enjoying the Atlantic views but beware the tide if parking on the beach.

Blasket Islands: Uninhabited since 1953, these islands offer a glimpse into traditional Irish life and
stunning views of wild Atlantic landscapes. To gain a real insight into what life on the island was like
pick yourself up a copy of Peig, an autobiographical memoir of Peigs life on the island.

Valentia Island: Where would modern day communications be without Valentia, the Valentia Cable
Line was a ground-breaking transatlantic telegraph cable that connected western Europe, to Canada.
It was a major achievement in global communications and the rest is history. The island is accessed
either by bridge or ferry from the mainland and boasts stunning cliff views, a lighthouse, and
Tetrapod footprints.

Ballybunion Beach & Cliffs: A favourite for surfing and scenic cliff walks, with the famous
Ballybunion Golf Course nearby that attracts the world’s top golfers and famous enthusiasts such as
President Bill Clinton. Check out Nuns beach while there, this beach is reputed to have gotten its
name from nuns from a nearby convent used to visit it for quiet reflection and possibly even
swimming, away from the public eye. Since it is only accessible by sea or by climbing down a rope.

These are just some of the sights and attractions, there are so many more Ardfert Cathedral, Ratoo
round tower we could go on and on.
