How can BER rating benefit you?

What is a BER Cert?

A BER cert is an energy assessment of your property at a given time – what does BER stand for –
‘Building Energy Rating’ and it is issued and governed by the SEAI – Sustainable Energy Authority of
Ireland.

A Ber cert is a legal requirement for both a domestic and commercial property when they are being
leased or sold. Estate Agents cannot advertise a property without a valid BER cert being in place.

A BER certificate rates your home’s energy performance on a scale between A and G. A-rated homes are
the most energy efficient while G-rated are the least energy efficient.

A BER assessment is the first step on your energy efficiency journey. Find out what is involved in
a BER assessment and how to prepare your property for it.

Increasingly purchasers and tenants are looking for properties that have a good BER rating
ideally ‘C’ or better, this gives them the confidence that the property they are buying or renting
should be economical to heat and maintain.
